Community Involvement

Often neighbors don't know of us until there's a community need; to put
up a fence, construction, reconstruct a house, to increase services to a
day care or to an assistant living establishment. The needs that require
FIA involvement are numerous.
There are agencies that can and do help individuals with community
needs, however, it is in the neighborhood organization that we learn
much more and work as a team to seek solutions. The lack of
community involvement has put many neighborhoods at risk.
We can all and will have improved homes, neighborhoods and
communities when each of us takes the responsibility of being involved
in learning, working together, getting to know our neighbors, and
attending various civic and community meeting.
Realizing that the laws on the books will be enforced more as monies
get tight in the city's budget will bring about many changes. It is the
responsibility of the homeowner from the center of the street to the
center of a shared alley to maintain and upgrade his/her property.
We meet every third Tuesday of the month at 7:30p.m each month from
September until June at 4801 Sipple Ave The First Church of God to
discuss many important community issues. Crime, housing,
recreation and education are very serious issues that our communities
must address. If students are to be successful in Baltimore City, then
the community must be responsible beyond the usual manner of
expectations and actions.
